It's worth waiting - RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE will be back even stronger in 2022!

Actually, today we would have watched scrap shears crushing metal, marveled at the screening process of soil and stones, or had the smell of fresh asphalt in our noses. But due to the Corona pandemic, the resulting planning uncertainty and the cancellation of important key players, we unfortunately had to postpone our demo trade fair until 2022.

But cheer up - we look forward to returning with the full force of RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE from May 5 to 7, 2022!

The trade fair restart in Karlsruhe is still scheduled for September: At the two industry trade fairs Platformers' Days (September 13 and 14) and the commercial vehicle trade fair NUFAM (September 30 to October 3), personal exchange and experiencing machine technology on site is finally possible again. With a comprehensive safety and hygiene concept, we are well prepared for the trade fairs in real operation. All further information can be found at the Messe Karlsruhe website.

The Platformers' Days trade fair is the industry event for mobile lifting and height access technology in the D-A-CH region and, for many industry followers, the first live trade fair after a year and a half of pandemic. At the premiere event at the Karlsruhe location, more than 100 exhibitors and well-known industry giants such as Haulotte, Genie, JLG, Liebherr, Manitou, Oil & Steel, Palfinger, Skyjack, Teupen, Ruthmann and JCB will be displaying their machine technology, including live, European and German premieres.

Also at NUFAM, more than 350 exhibitors from 14 countries will present the entire range of services offered by the commercial vehicle industry. For the seventh time, the trade fair combines current technology with mobility concepts of the future. In addition, the trade fair focuses on the latest developments in freight mobility of the future with various practice-oriented formats - from lecture series and discussion rounds to New Mobility tours.

Attachments arena: Successful kick-off with strong exhibitor interest
Attachments arena

2021 will see the first cross-industry demo format at RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE, the brand new attachments arena. Here, recycling and civil engineering tools will be demonstrated in three action-packed shows focusing on the topics of ground preparation, demolition and recycling.

The concept presentation took place in November as part of a kick-off event at the Karlsruhe Trade Fair Centre. The interest of the exhibitors who had travelled to Karlsruhe especially for this event in participating in the new demo format was immense, and so the joint kick-off event can be considered a complete success.

In the new attachments arena, exhibitors can present tools from the recycling and civil engineering sectors - such as bucket separators, demolition and hydraulic hammers, attachment compactors, grab tools and various excavator buckets - in three themed demonstrations per day in an action-packed show.

With the new participation format, the project team of RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE is reacting to the exhibitors' need for demonstrations and is also uniting the recycling and civil engineering sector on a joint action area in the form of a new type of tool platform.

What happens at the Attachment Arena?

The driver of the carrier unit uncouples the various attachments by means of a fully hydraulic quick-change system and demonstrates their robustness and performance in practical live use - either in direct comparison as in a real arena or in perfect interaction to illustrate a construction process. A representative of the exhibitor and the expert presenter will provide information on the features and application areas of the attachment.

Would you also like to present your attachment to a technically experienced trade audience in the spectacular attachments arena? Then don't hesitate and contact us right away! The limited places are allocated according to the principle "first come, first serve".

Attachments arena

For the first time at RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE, a rapidly staged spectacle will be created which, in addition to the universality of the carrier equipment, will showcase the versatility of the attachments in an incomparable way. The arena of attachments as an exclusive tool platform shows an excerpt from construction site practice and thus provides a brilliant stage for the various applications of the tool range in soil preparation, demolition and also in recycling applications. Demonstrate the robustness and performance of your products and underpin what you have shown briefly and concisely with tangible benefits that convince users and decision-makers alike. Daring stunts and fantastic special effects round off the shows and provide the necessary portion of action!

Demonstration building site e-mobility in compact construction, gardening and landscaping

Increasingly strict noise and exhaust gas requirements in tenders for construction projects in inner-city areas present civil engineering and landscaping companies with ever greater challenges. The solution: an emission-free and low-noise construction site that is also efficient - without compromising on performance, operating time or durability. Take advantage of the model construction site, designed for the first time together with the VDBUM, to make the topic and your solutions accessible to a highly technically experienced user audience in a practical and everyday manner.

We answer your questions about how to deal with the coronavirus at RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE

As the organizer of the demo trade fair RecyclingAKTIV & TiefbauLIVE, Messe Karlsruhe is firmly planning to hold the trade fair from 10 to 12 June 2021 in the open-air exhibition area and the adjacent hall area of the Karlsruhe Trade Fair Centre. Until then we would like to offer all exhibitors, partners and visitors the greatest possible planning security. Transparency, open cooperation and our health are our top priorities.

"We feel a real drive from our exhibitors, who are proactively involved in the design of our trade fair duo. Together with them as well as our partner associations and service partners, we are developing practicable solutions with which live demos can be fully experienced and safely lived at the trade fair stand and in the six demo formats," reports project manager Olivia Hogenmüller. "Of course, we are already working on the individual hygiene and safety concept for our event and are in close contact with the responsible authorities. The flexibility of the measures is the top priority. Since September, the trade fair industry has shown that hygiene and safety measures adapted to the respective occurrence of infection are effective".

We provide you with information on the hygiene and safety concept of RecyclingAKTIV and TiefbauLIVE and summarize the most important requirements of the authorities for you.

Eight associations contribute expertise

Eight leading industry associations show their continued commitment to the RecyclingAKTIV and TiefbauLIVE demo fairs, which will be held from 5 to 7 September in the Karlsruhe Trade Fair Centre. The sector groups lend the trade fair management their specific expertise and enrich the programme through their support in the special theme areas in the Trade Fair Centre’s open-air exhibition area. Here, exhibitors demonstrate their machines in action under real conditions – in several fields: Mobile Scrap & Metal Yard, Wood & Biomass and the demonstration building sites for road and path construction and for canalisation. In addition, exhibitors can conduct live demonstrations of their products at their own stands.

“In the Wood & Biomass special theme area, trade fair visitors can experience processing machinery for waste wood demonstrated under real conditions,” says Naemi Denz, member of the VDMA executive board.

Demo fairs profit from support of industry associations

Association partners include the German engineering association VDMA, which represents more than 3,000 primarily small- and medium-sized companies in the capital goods sector, making it one of the largest industrial associations in Europe. According to the association, waste- and recycling-technology manufacturers can still expect a positive boost from the amendment of the Commercial Waste Ordinance (GewAbfV). Increasing amounts of waste wood are forecast – one contributing factor is construction activity, says Naemi Denz, member of the VDMA executive board. “At the same time, quality requirements for waste wood are growing. In the Wood & Biomass special theme area in Karlsruhe, trade fair visitors can experience suitable processing machinery in action.”

Eric Rehbock, Chief Executive Officer of bvse, is convinced that companies in this sector must focus even more intensively on recycling: “To succeed in this undertaking and maintain a foothold in the market, recycling businesses need the right equipment technology.”

The German Association for Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Management (bvse) represents more than 880 primarily small- and medium-sized companies in the secondary raw materials, recycling and waste management industry. It has been a RecyclingAKTIV partner association from day one. Chief Executive Officer Eric Rehbock is convinced that companies in this sector must focus even more intensively on recycling. He says that the Chinese import stop and the good or very good capacity utilisation of waste incineration plants are clear signals for the market. The German Commercial Waste Ordinance and the Packaging Act (VerpackG) provide clear legal guidance in this area: “To comply with these laws and maintain a foothold in the market, recycling businesses need the right equipment technology. The RecyclingAKTIV and TiefbauLIVE trade fair pairing provides the necessary information; in the demonstration areas and special theme areas visitors can see the highly modern equipment in operation,” explains Rehbock.

Ulrich Leuning, Managing Director of the BDSV: “The quality requirements are increasing for our recycling operations, including in the areas of shredding and separation technology.”
Ulrich Leuning, Managing Director of the BDSV: “The quality requirements are increasing for our recycling operations, including in the areas of shredding and separation technology.”

The Federal Association of German Steel Recycling and Disposal Companies (BDSV) places a special focus on the recycling of scrap metal. Here the industry is demanding increasingly high-quality raw materials. “For our recycling operations, quality requirements are increasing, including in the areas of shredding and separation technology. Accurately sorting and separating the materials is the top priority – it’s the only way to achieve closed cycles for valuable materials,” explains BDSV Managing Director Ulrich Leuning. He adds that RecyclingAKTIV provides industry experts with a quick overview of the latest technological developments. The performance of the machines can be observed first hand at the stands of the manufacturers and distributors as well as in the Mobile Scrap & Metal Yard special theme area. “Furthermore, we will hold our southwest state convention during the paired trade fairs. That’s where we discuss current issues that affect the industry, like the controversial legal classification of steel chips contaminated with cutting fluids, which is currently being discussed by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Environment,” says Leuning.

In addition to the VDMA, BDSV and bvse, the BRB, DA, QRB and VDM support the RecyclingAKTIV with their industry knowledge. The KMK also continues to cooperate with the previous organiser, Geoplan GmbH in Iffezheim. “Our two demo fairs benefit immensely from the extensive expert involvement of our partners. Through this close collaboration, we ensure that our trade fair programme touches on current developments in technology and regulations, and therefore reflects important market trends,” explains trade fair project manager Claudia Nötzelmann. So even in a year in which the bauma trade fair is being held, the RecyclingAKTIV and TiefbauLIVE are must-attend events for experts and decision-makers.

Dieter Schnittjer, Managing Director of VDBUM and member of its executive board: “When it comes to the megatrend of digitalisation, now more than ever construction companies have to keep up with the latest technology and keep training their employees. The demonstration building site shows what is already possible today.”
Dieter Schnittjer, Managing Director of VDBUM and member of its executive board: “When it comes to the megatrend of digitalisation, now more than ever construction companies have to keep up with the latest technology and keep training their employees. The demonstration building site shows what is already possible today.”

TiefbauLIVE works closely with VDBUM

The VDBUM trade association, which once conceived, launched and organised the TiefbauLIVE, now serves as a partner for civil engineering. VDBUM will once again take on the technical organisation, configuration and implementation of the road and path construction and canalisation demonstration building sites, where live demonstrations of machinery, changing systems and add-on equipment are held featuring real-life process steps. And of course the digitalisation megatrend does not get short shrift: “The demonstration building sites show what is already possible today in terms of machine control, environment recognition and obstacle warning systems, as well as documentation and automation of workflows,” says Dieter Schnittjer, VDBUM Managing Director and member of its executive board. Digital coordination of the building site is already a criterion in many calls for tender and will become standard on every building site in the coming years, Schnittjer predicts.
